The unmistakable design of the Porsche 911 has stood the test of time like no other sports car, fascinating enthusiasts and designers worldwide for the longest time. However, there's something about the original 911 that Porsche fans and collectors can't seem to get enough of. If you're one of them, you'll love the new 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic – the second of four collector's items presented by Porsche from its Heritage Design strategy. In this model overview by Porsche Colorado Springs in Colorado Springs, CO, we tell you more about the 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic – a sports car that takes you back to the future!
Representing the most emotionally driven concepts of the Porsche Heritage Design strategy, the 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic revives some of the most iconic design elements of iconic Porsche models from the 1960s and the early 1970s. The limited-edition model will be manufactured by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur and will have only 1,250 examples made. Like the Porsche 977-based Porsche 911 Sport Classic launched in 2009, the 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic models will be inspired by the original 911 from 1964 – 1973 and the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 from 1972.
The new 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic features one of the most distinctive and iconic paint jobs in the sports car industry. Porsche designers were inspired by the iconic "Fashion Grey" paint job of the early Porsche 356 when choosing the exclusive color for the limited-edition 911 Sport Classic. The all-new Sport Grey Metallic exterior paint of the new 911 Sport Classic is further enhanced by twin stripes painted on the bonnet, roof, and rear spoiler in light Sports Grey and unique Porsche decals with racing-inspired number 60 (representing the 1960s) on its doors. For customers who want more options, the new 911 Sport Classic will also be available in Porsche's staples - solid black, Agate Grey Metallic, Gentian Blue Metallic, or any other paint of their choice via the Porsche' Paint to Sample' option. The wide-body design, otherwise reserved for the 911 Turbo models, a fixed rear spoiler in the style of the legendary "ducktail" of the 1972 Carrera RS 2.7, and a double-bubble roof, all enhance the unique appeal of this classic sportscar.
On the inside, the 2023 911 Sport Classic is as classic as classic can get with the iconic Pepita pattern on the door panels and seat centers. The two-tone, semi-aniline leather upholstery in black/classic cognac provides an elegant contrast to the heritage exterior color.
The 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic might feature classic elements in its design and styling, but its powertrain is modern and cutting-edge. Powering the 2023 911 Sport Classic is a 3.7-liter, twin-turbo, flat-six engine that puts out 550 PS (roughly 543 HP) via the rear wheels, which, combined with the 7-speed manual transmission, makes it the most powerful manual 911 yet!
The gearbox of the 911 Sport Classic features an auto-blip function that compensates for engine-speed differences between the gears with a brief burst of revs when shifting down, while the standard sports exhaust system has been specially tailored to the model for an even more emotive sound experience. The 911 Sport Classic's sports suspension, based on that of the 911 Turbo and 911 GTS models, features a 10mm lower ride height and meets high-performance requirements. And thanks to the standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), its shock absorbers respond to dynamic changes at lightning speed. Porsche Design has also created a high-quality chronograph exclusively for drivers who purchase the collector's edition vehicle.
