What’s New in the 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo?
We were expecting big things for the new Macan, but the Macan Turbo opens its second generation with a performance boost that’s no less than staggering. The recently unveiled Macan Turbo gets ripped for 2020 with a new twin-turbo V6, more horsepower and improved speed and acceleration. Keep reading for more details on what’s new in the 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo.
New 2.9L Twin-Turbo V6
The Macan Turbo now draws life from a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6, propelling the small SUV forward with 434 horsepower. That’s a 10% increase (or an extra 34 horses) from the 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 of the outgoing model. The new V6 is the same found on the larger Cayenne SUV and Panamera sedan and matches with a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox.
Acceleration and Top Speed
The 2020 Macan Turbo now rockets from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds. If you option the Sport Chrono package, the model clocks in at just 4.1 seconds. In either case, that’s a 0.3-second drop from the old Macan Turbo. The new model also gets +3 mph for top speed, maxing out at 167 mph.
Exterior Styling & Features
The new Macan Turbo isn’t shy with its newfound attitude. Exterior styling is adapted, most notably with a full-length rear light bar and a now-standard sports exhaust. Surface-Coated Brakes are now available as well. The upgraded brakes first seen on the Cayenne feature a tungsten carbide coating on the discs, offering faster response time and more resistance wear.
Interior Features
The interior changes made to the 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo are the same as the rest of the 2020 Porsche Macan lineup, including a new 10.9-inch touchscreen that runs on Porsche’s new infotainment system. As always, the Macan Turbo gets a more athletic interior with 18-way sports seats, an Alcantara headliner and a 665-watt Bose sound system.
