Production Starts for 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster
The epitome of the original Porsche virtues, the Speedster combines concepts of purism, lightweight construction, efficiency and unadulterated driving pleasure into one seamless package. As of May 8th, order books are now open for the 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster. With production limited to just 1,948 units, we’re expecting this model to sell out fast. Read on to see for yourself why the 911 Speedster is dropping jaws.
Brandishing distinct proportions and design, there’s no mistaking the 2019 Speedster for anything else. The newest addition to the 911 lineup is priced starting at $274,500.
The model inherits the 4.0-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine from the GT3 and GT3 RS, making for a deeply satisfying sound experience from the driver’s seat. Matched with the six-speed GT manual transmission, the high-performance engine hammers out 502 horsepower at 8,400 rpm and 346 lb.-ft. of torque at 6,250 rpm. This gives the model an impressive 0-to-60-mph sprint time of 3.8 seconds and a top track speed of 192 mph.
Staying true to the Speedster name, among the model’s highlights is its lightweight design. The Speedster achieves a curb weight 200 lbs. lighter than typical Porsche 911 thanks largely to the use of carbon fiber body panels. A weight-saving fabric roof structure replaces the basic tonneau cover seen in the concept vehicle.
Porsche Speedster Heritage Design Package
Porsche also offers the new 911 Speedster with an optional Heritage Design package. The package suits up the Speedster with a reinterpretation of classic elements from the 1950s and 1960s, including a Black and Cognac interior color scheme with golden details. Tying together the vintage look, the doors and front lid are adorned with motorsports decals inspired by Porsche designs from the 50s and 60s. Owners can select their own one- or two-digit start numbers.
