Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Dominates Interlagos with Electrifying Speed and Power
Porsche continues its world tour of record-breaking performances with the awe-inspiring Taycan Turbo GT, setting a new benchmark for electric performance vehicles. This time, the venue was the legendary Interlagos circuit in São Paulo, Brazil — a track famous for its demanding layout and rich motorsport history. Piloted by three-time IMSA champion Felipe Nasr, the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package clocked an impressive lap time of 1:42.1 minutes, crushing the previous electric vehicle record and showcasing what this electric powerhouse is capable of. Breaking Records with Purpose
Known officially as Autódromo José Carlos Pace, Interlagos is a 2.67-mile circuit featuring high-speed straights, technical curves, and significant elevation changes. It’s a track that challenges even the most seasoned drivers, and the Taycan Turbo GT rose to the occasion. Nasr’s new lap time was nearly eight seconds faster than the record set by the Taycan Turbo S in 2022 and narrowly outpaced a lap posted by the renowned Porsche 911 Turbo S.
The Weissach package played a key role in this record-breaking run. Developed with track dominance in mind, this package replaces the rear bench seat to improve the power-to-weight ratio and incorporates numerous carbon-fiber components that reduce overall weight by up to 157 pounds compared to the Taycan Turbo S. The vehicle also came equipped with OEM Pirelli Trofeo RS performance tires, providing superior grip on the twisting Interlagos surface.

Purpose-Built Power and Innovation
At the heart of the Taycan Turbo GT lies a high-efficiency pulse inverter made with silicon carbide semiconductors, delivering an incredible peak output of up to 1019 horsepower. For track-focused moments, Attack Mode unleashes an additional 160 horsepower for up to 10 seconds, borrowing technology directly from the Porsche brand’s 99X Formula E race cars. This temporary power surge is exhilarating and intelligently displayed in the instrument cluster, letting drivers focus entirely on their lap.
The Porsche Active Ride suspension has been fine-tuned specifically for this GT model. This advanced setup keeps the Taycan planted through aggressive cornering, distributing wheel loads for optimal road contact even during dynamic maneuvers. Lightweight engineering combined with motorsport-derived technology gives this electric sedan the agility and response expected of a Porsche bearing the GT badge.

A Global Force in Electric Performance
The Interlagos triumph is the latest chapter in the Porsche Taycan vehicle’s global legacy. In January 2025, the Taycan GTS set a unique world record in Sweden by drifting 10.87 miles continuously on ice, showcasing control and traction even in extreme conditions. Earlier, at California’s famed WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Porsche development driver Lars Kern recorded a stunning 1:27.87 lap time, setting a new EV record for that circuit.
More Than Just a Track Star
While it’s easy to focus on lap times, the Taycan Turbo GT is more than a record-breaker — it’s also a symbol of the Porsche brand’s electric vision. Since May 2024, the Taycan Turbo GT has served as the official safety car for Formula E, driven by Bruno Correia. Outfitted with communication systems and race-ready safety gear, two GT variants with Weissach packages are present at every Formula E event, alternating duties and reinforcing the car’s real-world motorsport credentials.
