ABOUT THIS VEHICLE
The T-6 designation refers to the updated body type which received twin grilles on the engine lid, and external fuel filler in the right front fender so you didn't have to open the front deck lid to fuel the car, and a larger rear window in the coupe.
Tom Conway of Carquip is a renowned 356 expert that oversaw the engine, transmission, suspension, and finishing touches during the restoration process. Jon Bingham from The Metal Surgeon expertly performed metal restoration to ensure structural integrity and precision. Emmel's Enamels applied Ruby Red paint to exacting standards. Monaco Auto Trim completed the interior restoration with attention to period-correct details. Our Factory Trained Porsche Classic Technicians here at Porsche Colorado Springs contributed to maintaining authenticity and meticulous craftsmanship during the process.
Mechanical highlights include the original numbers matching engine was full rebuilt using 86mm Big Bore J&E pistons and cylinders with cast iron barrels for optimal heat management at altitude. Equipped with a C camshaft (15-102 grind), rebuilt and polished magnesium crankshaft (.010 rods, standard mains), honed rockers, rebuilt heads with new valves and guides, and an aluminum oil cooler. Fuel system restoration included rebuilt carburetors, fuel pump, and a new gas tank. The transmission assembly was completely rebuilt with a taller 4th gear for improved highway performance and an S-90 flywheel was installed. Suspension and brakes received fully rebuilt suspension components, powder-coated for durability, new shocks, completely rebuilt drum brakes including new bearings and wheel cylinders.
Exterior restoration highlights include all chrome being re-chromed, restored headlights and taillights, wheels refinished and fitted with period correct tires, and new undercoating being applied for protection and longevity.
New seat belts were installed during the interior restoration that was done to period-correct standards.
The 6V generator was rebuilt for reliable performance.
Our Factory Trained Technicians have performed our comprehensive inspection to ensure the 356 is ready for its next owner. During the inspection we replaced all 4 tires due to age and performed a Classic Technical Certificate inspection to continue this cars impressive documentation.
